FAU Engineering and Computer Science Building
This iconic, LEED Platinum science facility reflects the highly technical nature of the engineering and computer sciences program. The dramatic design provides a visual icon for the campus and is the focal point of a multi-phased development that encompasses all university engineering and computer science programs.
The facility utilizes ‘Engineering on Display’ throughout the building and creates a living laboratory where students learn from the architecture of the building. Beginning the moment students enter the building, an interactive lobby displays real time usage of the building systems, such as temperature, water flows, and energy usage. A special feature of the building is the electronic library, offering a state-of-the-art computer resource center and private study areas fully equipped with audiovisual equipment. The building is programmed with spaces to enhance opportunities for relaxed interaction between students and professors in distance learning lecture halls, dining areas, a convenience store, outdoor classrooms, and open study areas.
