Broward College Science Building

Pembroke Pines, Florida

The science lab and classroom building on the Pembroke Pines Campus for Broward College is designed to support the Department of Natural Sciences. This department includes four large academic and scientific areas: biological including the new biotechnology labs, chemical, environmental, and physical.

The new building contains 13 labs and eight classrooms and provides opportunities for research to be added to the undergraduate science curriculum. State-of-the-art equipment includes nuclear magnetic spectrometers, infrared spectrometers, and gas chromatography. Classrooms provide multimedia setups, allowing teachers to present material in a much more visually rich environment. Other amenities in the science building include lab preparation areas, a student reception area, and faculty offices.

This is the 6th reuse of the Science Consortium. Design flexibility for instructional spaces was essential, as well as recognizing future advancements in utility and ventilation technology. The design allows for updating as the demands of technology change.
