Video transcript
I was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and I decided to go to Clemson University to study architecture. When I was a student, I got a phone call from my parents letting me know that my mom had been diagnosed with cancer, so at that moment everything became focused on how to help people like my mom have a better experience and heal. My philosophy to healthcare design is providing environments that are humanizing and conducive to healing. And that has to be combined with an approach that makes the facility operate efficiently, and provide a setting for not just the patient, but the staff and family to feel at ease, to feel welcome, and to be at a setting that promotes wellbeing.
My aspiration for the Miami office is to look for like-minded clients that are looking into our expertise to enhance their business through architectural design. Healthcare design is going through an important shift, not just with technologies, but how clients are selecting where they go to get healthcare. And through design, we cannot just be limited to a hospital or institutional setting, but it should be everywhere we go. At LEO A DALY, we have the expertise, not just in healthcare, but in many other building types to provide a wellness setting, a healing setting for everyone. Wellness is not a location, but an activity that happens throughout the ecosystem that we live, be it at the park, be it at the shopping center, be it at the medical clinic. In other words, healthcare design is everything.
