Moore Park and Community Center

Miami, Florida

The City of Miami set a goal to renovate historic Moore Park to create a new town center for the northeast corner of the Allapattah neighborhood. This exciting project encompasses the renovation of a park that dates back to the 1930s, when Orange Bowl games and parades were held there several times.
The design/build project included the demolition of the existing recreation center, construction of a community and day care center and additional site amenities. The community center includes administrative offices, multipurpose spaces with a commercial kitchen for catering, computer rooms, arts and craft rooms and exercise rooms. The daycare offers child care services for 45 children and includes an outdoor playground area.

New site amenities provide open plaza and courtyard areas, a playground, a green gathering area with shelter pavilions for outdoor events, benches throughout the park, BBQ grill stations, bicycle parking and new tree species to enhance the existing park. The project also included renovations of the existing basketball courts and parking areas.
