Chadron State College Chicoine Events Center
Envisioned as an arena that would bring Division-I energy to Division-II Chadron State College, the Chicoine Events Center balances intimacy and performance. Pulling tricks from the pro-arena playbook, the arena uses a top-loading design to bring fans closer to the court for a dynamic, high-energy experience.
In a collaborative design process, LEO A DALY transformed Chadron State College’s 1964 basketball gym and natatorium into an arena they call “the nicest building in our conference.” The disused natatorium has been re-purposed into a cutting-edge training complex that overlooks Chadron’s football stadium. A new entry courtyard serves as a gathering place for pre-game events at both the football stadium and basketball arena. Sports medicine facilities, a world-class locker room, and administrative offices round out this “game-changing” facility.

This is the nicest building in the conference, but I’m prejudiced! I really do think it is as far as its intimacy, and how well it works, and the things it provides our department, I really don’t think there’s another building comparable in our conference.
