Century College, Active Learning Classroom Addition and Dental Lab Renovation

LEO A DALY was hired to design, construct, furnish and equip an 8,200-SF classroom addition. The Link6 classroom addition at Century College elevates and encloses the short section of pedestrian bridge between the main East Campus building and the Science/Library Building.

The classroom addition is an innovative teaching resource, enabling faculty members to focus on a variety of teaching and learning styles. The new rooms feature flexible furnishings, technology and room configurations that encourage movement, engagement and active learning. Three of the new classrooms accommodate 50 students and three are designed for 32 students. Informal learning areas adjacent to the classrooms for small group work expand the boundaries of the classroom.

We worked with Century College staff and faculty to consolidate and improve dental teaching facilities. The renovated dental program space occupies approximately 11,000 SF on a single level of the existing East Campus building. The project includes a suite of faculty offices and new classrooms and teaching labs. In addition, a shared “Sim Lab” with state-of-the-art dental simulators will help change the way students in all programs are taught for years to come.
